Russian writer (1890–1960) whose novel Doctor Zhivago takes a place among the central works of twentieth-century literature. ALS, penned in his usual attractive purple ink, signed “B. Pasternak,” one page, 8 x 10.5, August 10, 1959. Letter to Mr. and Mrs. Harry Palmer. In full: “The thought, your nice young couple should be left without my sincerest congratulations and fervent wishes makes me grieve and suffer. But a wire from me would attract here an undesired attention that I am inclined to avoid. So tell them out of this belated letter that I see them in perpetual radiance of happiness and most fair and brilliant hopes in my sympathizing mind.” In fine condition, with intersecting mailing folds, a couple though single letters of signature.
