TLS, one page, 6.75 x 8.75, August 22, 1934. Letter to Albert Hergesheimer. In full: “Perhaps my most important superstition is the continuance of the chain of events which have proved fortunate. For example, in making ‘Frankenstein’ a few years ago after all the hours spent in the make-up room, in going to the set it happened that I always turned to the right as I left the make-up room. As you know, it was a very lucky picture for me so now, whenever I leave the make-up room I always turn to the right even if it means a longer walk to the particular set I am going to. This sounds rather silly but there you are!” Double-matted and framed with a portrait of Karloff in his famous role to an overall size of 21 x 15. In fine condition. Karloff letters discussing Frankenstein in such explicit detail are extremely scarce, with this example having absolutely remarkable content about his transformation into the iconic monster.
