<B><I>Boreas Abducting Orithyia<BR></B></I></B></I><BR>After Gaspard Marsy, French (1693-1710)<BR>Circa First Quarter of the 19th Century<BR>Bronze with brownish gold patina<BR>41 inches in height<BR><BR> This large bronze sculpture portrays the mythological abduction of Orithyia, the daughter of King Erechtheus of Athens, by Boreas, the North wind. According to Greek mythology, Boreas brought Orithyia to Thrace, where the two reigned as King and Queen of the Winds.
