These horse grooming tools were issued to the 17th Cavalry Regiment from Maryland, during the Pancho Villa Expedition border wars with Mexico and into WW1. They were expecting to leave for France put was upheld when the armistice was signed ending that war. The kit includes a hoof knife, curry comb, shoe puller, two brushes for soldier grooming, furrier hammer and leather carry case marked: "MD/17 CAV/26", and a felt cavalry armband.
