Lot of 6, including 2 covers, one from Wells Fargo addressed to a party in Disco, Michigan, the other is a rare full ad for Smith Brothers Borax and addressed to a party in Brooklyn, New York. A letter from James Ferguson on Pacific Borax Works stationary discusses his time serving on a jury for a murder trial in Candelaria. Characters in the real life drama include a man called “Tex,” and a murder victim called “Rattlesnake Vick.” The piece is very sharp, some staining, but generally in very good condition. A short note written on Smith Brothers of Nevada letterhead, from New York, asks that Ferguson send “receipt for the goods, also for the two sacks of borax.” Faded but still readable. Contains a letter on Smith Brothers letterhead, from Wm. T. Coleman & Company Sole Agents, discussing a reluctance to quote single case and barrel pricing. Piece has fold creasing and is a bit faded, dated 3 April 1877. A letter on Pacific Coast Borax Company letterhead, dated 25 October 1891, addressed to J.H. Strachan, superintendent of Pacific Borax, asking if he received the goods shipped to him. There is fold creasing, but piece is in very good condition. - Maish Collection -58978
