Booker T. Washington Signs a 1910 Lincoln's Birthday Program; He was a Feature Speaker The program has a brown suede cover, and is gold-embossed "Lincoln Centennial Association", Springfield, Illinois, February 12, 1910. It measures 6" x 8". The autographed page, one of the last two pages (cleanly separated) is written in pencil, and shows the signature of Booker T. Washington among other notables of the time. The program is for a "Banquet given on the One Hundred and First Anniversary of the birth of Abraham Lincoln by the Lincoln Centennial Association February the twelfth Nineteen hundred and ten The St. Nicholas Hotel Springfield" There is a tipped-in copy of a portrait of Lincoln, a menu, and a roster of speakers, which shows an address by Booker T. Washington about "Some Results of Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation." There is a poem illustrating the position of Lincoln among the dominating personalities of history, and the autograph page. A great association piece linking the Great Emancipation to one of the early American black leaders, who was himself born into slavery. Rare.
