Booker T. Washington 1 TLS- 2 ALS. Booker T. Washington Lot of Two Letters Signed and One Typed Lett
Booker T. Washington Lot of Two Letters Signed and One Typed Letter Signed "Booker T. Washington." This lot consists of three letters, all signed by Booker T. Washington the famous educator and civil rights advocate. None of the letters are in his own hand, but all are signed by him. All three letters measure 8.5" x 11" and are on the Tuskegee Normal and Industrial Institute stationery. The first letter is a one-page typed document that is dated October 27, 1897. The content consists of Washington requesting clothes, bedding items and shoes for his students. He also states that the fifty-dollar donation for tuition is best of all. The second letter is a two page handwritten document dated, February 12, 1901. Booker writes Mrs. M.E. Clark thanking her for her two-dollar donation. The third and final letter is a one page handwritten document. The content contains a request to Reverend Erastus Blakeslee for money or items to help his students with their expenses. All three letters are in Good condition; all letters have pencil notations on the versos; usual folds are present; writing and printed letters are fading slightly. A nice lot for Booker T. Washington collectors! From the Henry E. Luhrs Collection. Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.
