"Craig", as she is called in these Sonnets, was born in the far South, the eldest of an honored family. Craig had a youthful love affair and engagement which ended in tragedy. For 5 or 6 years thereafter, she lived only for her family. At the age of 25 she came to New York. Soon, she met a man by the name of George Sterling who fell immediately in love with her. Craig told George that she could not love him. George Sterling set forth to win her affections. Everyday he would send her letters and poems. A few of these Sonnets were written in the East, but most came from California. Craig married a man called Upton. The period of these sonnets was less than a year. None are dated, except for the day of the week; the places given in the book are derived from the post marks on the envelopes. The Publication rights to this work were purchased from the estate of George Sterling by his sisters. 102 Sonnets. 120 pages. Copyright 1928; Sonnets to Craig by George Sterling with Introduction by Upton Sinclair; Published by Albert & Charles Boni; New York; Good Condition.
