No. 52, issued for $500 to SC Lewis in 1865. Signed by governor Blasdell, E. Rhoades, and controller Nightingill. Punch cancelled (though not through signatures). Red border, black print with fantastic mining and allegorical vignettes. Lith. Britton & Co., SF. 13.5 x 16.25" Folds, creases, a few small tears. Governor Henry Blasdell was the first Governor of Nevada, serving during the American Civil War and the first years of the Reconstruction era. E(ben) Rhodes, not to be confused with AJ Rhodes (of Salt Marsh fame), was a controversial treasurer who was found to be embezzling funds from the treasury (totaling over $100,000). He died mysteriously in San Francisco in 1869, possibly by suicide.
