Incorporated in Colorado. Cert. #13386, issued to Mary R. Roth in 1900 for 18 shares. Signed by President J.P. Whitney, an investor in many mining companies, and Secretary W. J. Downing. Black border, central vignette. U/C. Datelined Leadville. Printer: ABN Co., N.Y. Whitney took an exhibit of Colorado ores to the Paris Exhibition in 1867 in order to promote investments. In the years of 1880-1900, the ores of the Leadville area were considered Bonanza grade. Rich ore bodies at the contact of the Leadville Limestone allowed for nearly 1 million ounces of silver to be produced in 1880. Most likely this company adopted the Bonanza name from the rich ores they hoped to exploit. Rare. Very fine.
