Bona Allen Silver and Gold Mounted Show Saddle. Maker-stamped on the seat with "B/A" and the 1873 saddlery founding date, this black floral carved Georgia saddle, bridle and bit features a rearing horse and rider on the fenders, finely engraved corner plates with gold horseheads and 1" engraved and domed sterling conchos around the perimeter. Fine rideable condition, circa 1940s. Bona Allen, Buford, Georgia was established in 1873. Originally known as a tanner and manufacturer of horse collars, harness & saddlery, Bona Allen went on to become one of the biggest and most respected makers in the South with a broad line of riding saddles that included some higher end and silver mounted styles.
