Reminiscent of Ed Bohlin’s immensely popular “Dick Dickson” model, this ornate ensemble and impressive late 1950s – early 60s sterling silver parade saddle was created by the popular Georgia saddlery to compete with the best that California makers had to offer mid-century parade riders. Lavishly adorned with heavy gauge silver diamond and half-diamonds conchos, the saddle merited a full page photo in Bona Allen’s Catalog #61 and was christened “The Silver King” with an enticing “description and price on application”. Black in color and fully floral carved, this Georgia peach features a tasteful silver cantle with rope edge and finely engraved solid silver front with rope-edge gullet, plus saddle horn with raised 14k gold horse head. All the silver was artfully mounted contemporaneous with the leather work and is stylistically in the Northern California tradition of Olsen-Nolte, Visalia and Keyston Bros. The striking tapaderos measure 22” in length and feature heavy gauge engraved caps – an absolutely must for the most discerning parade riders of the period. Overall very fine, rideable condition. Seat size is 15" It is complete with a large matching breast collar with six 5" drops and diamond clusters. The bridle features a 3 concho face drop with horse head accent. The attached bit is a marked "El Gato - San Francisco" S shank with huge 3 1/4" scalloped conchos.
