<B>Republic 4 Soles 1849-OR/JM Oruro,</B></I> KM-A124, Good 6 NGC Whitter Collection, lightly toned with fully readable legends and weakly struck centers. The Oruro mintmark appears as an O and R interlaced. Perhaps the rarest of all Republic type coins as this coin is the only example known. Oruro is a small city on the road from Potosi to La Paz. Much documentation exists regarding attempts to open a mint in Oruro in 1849 including itemized lists of die tools sent from the Potosi Mint.
