Bold Napoleon Signature Framed With Medals
Bold Napoleon Bonaparte Signature Framed With Medals. This handsome display piece is comprised of four elements, as follows: 1). Bold Signature, "NP", as Emperor, and one autograph word "accorde" [allow], one page, 4" x 2", no place, no date. In very fine condition. A note on the back of the frame suggests that the signature is part of a 1 page folio letter from Napoleon's Marshal Alexander Berthier to Napoleon, dated Compiegne, September 15, 1811; it is possible, perhaps, that this letter is hidden behind the elaborate matting. In any case, Napoleon chiefly signed of his letters to his marshals and generals "NP." 2). Print, featuring Napoleon's Imperial eagle circling high above the globe; 7.5" by 9.5", sepia toned. In very fine condition. 3). Medal, depicting Napoleon as Emperor, in profile, facing right, and wearing a wreath of laurel, with the words "Napoleon I" appearing to the left of the image and the word "Empereur" to the right. The image is surrounded by laurel leaves and set beneath a crown. Approximately .75" across and 1" high. In fine condition. 4). Medal, depicting Napoleon as Emperor, in profile facing left, and wearing a wreath of laurel. An enameled legend reads "Napoelon Emp De Francais." This image sits on a Lgion d'honneur design; a crown is set above it. Approximately .75" across and 1.25" high. In fine condition.
