Bogota, Colombia, cob 1/4 real, Philip IV, style of assayer Ramos (1650s), rare. S-B7; Restrepo-M14.1. 0.85 gram. Full-size flan but with only about half the lion and half the castle visible due to uneven strike (a nice complement to the previous lot for showing different parts of the same punches), About Fine with lightly toned fields. (Note: the Restrepo reference lists this as 1651, but clearly the 8R of the years 1652-1654 show the same punches, so the date cannot be defined.) Pedigreed to a late-19th or early-20th century collection passed on to the collector's grandson in the 1940s.
