Boehler Charolais Cattle Brand Advertising Sign
Included in this lot we have a Cattle Ranch Brand Advertising Sign from Boehler Charolais, circa late 1900s. The Boehler Charolais was a Montana Ranch located in Sheridan, Montana. This sign board displays the Boehler brand of a diamond slash X on the left side with what looks like a "MB" brand on the right. The first brand was applied to cattle left hips and a horse's left shoulder. The second brand was applied to cattle left rib while also applied to a horse's left thigh. In many states, including Montana, branded livestock must be registered in the respective county where they are run. In addition to marking livestock, brands represent the trademark of a ranching family and therefore also represent pride, duty and stewardship, which inspires loyalty and dedication. Many cowboys still refer to “riding for the brand” to represent their commitment to their employer. The original Boehler Ranch was sold in 1992. The board comes with a lanyard style business card with "Member National Cattlemen's Association" on one side and "Boehler Charolais - The Great White Cattle That Have Roots" with a quality performance seal and contact info. The sign board shows good condition overall with some light wear across the piece. The board measures 11"W x 23.5"L x .75"D, weight 2lb, 12oz.
