<B>Bobo (Burkina Faso)</B></I><BR>Mask with Crescent shape<BR>Wood, pigment, abrus seeds, fiber<BR>Height: 15 inches Width: 5 ¾ inches Depth: 8 7/8 inches<BR><BR>This is a mask of hemispherical shape, with a large crescent-shaped, flat vertical extension bisecting the face. The eyes, beside this blade-like feature, are surrounded with red abrus seeds. Black, white, and red pigmented geometric decorations have become muted with time and use. The exact meaning and functions of this mask are not known.<BR><BR>There is some pigment abrasion and some seed loss.<BR><BR>Provenance: H.
