Reclusive American-born chess grandmaster (1943-2008) who scored a Cold War triumph by defeating Russian world champion Boris Spassky in a celebrated 1972 competition. ALS, one page, on a 6 x 4.25 picture postcard, February 28, 1991. Postcard to Miss Schulter. In full: “Very nice to hear from you. Thanks for your lovely card and good wishes.” After his signature, Fischer adds a postscript asking: “Are you the famous T.V. actress and singer? I saw here (you?) on t.v. A couple of weeks ago.” In fine condition, with small pencil notation to top right.
