American Western musician, songwriter, and bandleader (1905–1975) who is known as the cofounder of Western swing; he formed the Texas Playboys in 1934. Vintage autograph book, 6.25 x 4.5, signed inside in ink by eleven members of Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys, including: Bob Wills, who adds "your Pal," Tommy Duncan, Al Stricklin, Eldon Shamblin, Charles Laughton, Jesse Ashlock, Everett Stover, Leon McAuliffe, Joe Ferguson, Robert 'Zeb' McNally, and Smoky Dacus, who adds "(drums)." The remainder of the instruments and the band name along the left side penned in unknown hand. The book also contains numerous other signatures from various friends, relatives, and musicians from acts like the Crockett Family Mountaineers and Ken Hackley's Oklahoma Cowboys. The Wills page is in fine condition; the remainder of the book is very good to fine, with missing covers and general moderate handling wear. Consignor notes that the book originates from the estate of Bill Maegerlein, a stuntman, rodeo cowboy, and inventor who worked at Essanay Studios in Chicago.
