Robert "Bob" Mcafee Scriver (1914-1999) was born in Browning, Montana (in the heart of the Blackfoot Indian Reservation) in 1914. Scriver began sculpting using taxidermy to learn his craft of making wildlife bronzes. By 1962 he became a charter member of the Society of Animal Artists, had been accepted into the prestigious Cowboy Artists of America, listed in Who’s Who in American Art, and a member of the National Sculpture Society, and the National Academy of Western Art. The sculpture features a wonderfully and professionally crafted chalkware construction that shows two Native Americans doing battle one on horseback and is marked as follows: The Price of a Scalp - Bob Scriver - 1963. The condition of this chalkware sculpture is well preserved with some slight wear to the sculpture from age. The measurements of this sculpture is 14 3/4" x 13 1/2" x 11 1/2".
