Featured in this lot is this sculpture called "Frontier Scout," by American Artist Bob Scriver born in 1914 and died in 1999. Chalkware sculptures were done by Scriver himself at his home foundry in Montana for only a few years with very few of them known to exhist. Robert "Bob" Mcafee Scriver (1914-1999) was born in Browning, Montana (in the heart of the Blackfoot Indian Reservation) in 1914. Scriver began sculpting using taxidermy to learn his craft of making wildlife bronzes. By 1962 he became a charter member of the Society of Animal Artists, had been accepted into the prestigious Cowboy Artists of America, listed in Who’s Who in American Art, and a member of the National Sculpture Society, and the National Academy of Western Art. The artwork shows a frontier scout on horseback with his rifle in his hand looking off into the distance. The sculpture is marked as follows: Bob Scriver - Browning Montana - 1964 - Fronier Scout. The condition of this chalkware sculpture is well preserved with a minor repair to the rein and shows wear to the paint consistent with age. The measurements of this sculpture is 15" x 11 3/4" x 4 3/4". The collective weight of this piece is 8lb 6oz. This piece comes complete with a certificate of authenticity.
