The sculpture features a wonderfully and professionally crafted bronze construction that shows a cowboy in a vets and batwing chaps sitting on a rock with a rope in his hand. The bronze is marked as follows: Batwing Chaps - 1984 - Bob Scriver - 165/250 - Bronze. The plaque on the front of the wooden shield is marked as follows: "Batwing Chaps" - Bob Scriver. Robert Macfie Scriver (1914-1999) was born in Browning, Montana (in the heart of the Blackfoot Indian Reservation) in 1914. Scriver began sculpting using taxidermy to learn his craft of making wildlife bronzes. By 1962, he became a charter member of the Society of Animal Artists, had been accepted into the prestigious Cowboy Artists of America, listed in Who’s Who in American Art, and a member of the National Sculpture Society, and the National Academy of Western Art. The overall condition of this bronze sculpture is good with no obvious signs of damage. The measurements of this bronze sculpture are 11" x 6 1/4" x 5 1/4".
