An exceptionally rare and beautiful original color 16 x 21.75 poster for a Bob Marley and the Wailers concert at the Music Hall in Cleveland, Ohio, on May 19, 1978, signed in black ballpoint, “Rasta Fari Live, Bob Marley” and “Aston Family Mon Barrett.” The lower right corner is also signed in black ink by the poster’s artist, Jay Rabinowitz, who, in an included letter of provenance, details the poster’s design, which incorporates ‘the Rastafarian tradition of red (blood shed/sacrifice), yellow/gold (wealth/sunshine) and green (fertile land of Ethiopia/Africa) in horizontal stripes; my hand-drawn silhouette of Bob Marley, eyes shut with raised arm and guitar, and dreadlocks of green Ganga; a graphic emblem of a Ganga leaf above a black and red vortex; The design is intended to evoke an image of resistance, remembrance and power.’ The lower portion is signed by one other. Affixed to a same-size mount and in fine condition. A magnificent display piece that represents the power and vibrancy of Marley and his reggae revolution.

Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from REAL and the referenced provenance letter from Rabinowitz, who states: “I am a life-long artist and photographer…I owned a graphics company in the Washington DC area called Mojo Graphics. One of our clients was a concert promotor, who hired us to create a poster design for an Ohio concert date of Bob Marley and the Wailers’ 1978 Kaya Tour…I met with Bob and the band after the concert at the Capital Centre, Washington, DC in June of 1978. I told them I was a huge fan of their music and what an honor it was to provide the artwork for them. They expressed appreciation for the design and we hung out for a little while. Almost as an afterthought, Bob and Aston Barrett autographed the poster before they were hustled to their tour bus.”
