Two items: one hardcover first edition of His Own Man, signed and inscribed on the first free end page in red felt tip, “Happy Birthday Steve, 1988, Bob Knight”; and one TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, Indiana University letterhead, April 8, 1981. Letter to potential recruit Robbie Valentine. In part: “As a student you would receive an outstanding background to prepare you for your chosen field. Twenty-eight out of the twenty-nine seniors who have played in our program have received their degrees. Indiana has a very proud basketball tradition. Our teams have won the Big Ten Championship six out of the last nine years.” In overall fine condition. Valentine ended up going to Louisville, where he was a member of their 1986 team that won the national championship.
