Two carbon copy typed letters, written by Bob Keeshan as he attempted to land the role of ''Bozo the Clown'' in 1953, along with a third letter by the show's executives. First typed letter addressed to Lloyd Dunn at Capitol records, dated 11 March 1953, reads in part: ''…I have considerable experience in children's television and am associated with a group who specialize in programming for children. Therefore, it was my thought that my services or the services of my associates would be of value to yu [sic] in the Bozo production…I was associated with the Howdy Doody television show from it's origination in December of 1947. I created, as an actor, the character of Clarabell the clown for Howdy Doody and played this part for five years…'' Letter is typed on two sheets of carbon paper, unsigned. Signed response by Lloyd Dunn on Capitol Records stationery, dated 19 March 1953, runs 1pp, and third letter by Keeshan to Alan Livingston, the creator of the show, dated 23 March 1953, also runs 1pp. where he again expresses his interest in the role. Each letter measures 8.5'' x 11'' and his wrinkling throughout, else near fine.
