Ballpoint signature and inscription, "To Gail & Larry, Bob Dylan,” on an off-white 5.75 x 4.75 notebook page. In very good condition, with toning and creasing, a couple of small blue stains, and splitting to the ends of the central vertical fold. Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from REAL.

The consignor notes that the autograph was obtained when the recipient spotted Dylan in the audience at the Forest Hills Music Festival, which was held at the Forest Hills Tennis Stadium in Queens, New York from July 14–16, 1967. The Forest Hills Music Festival is perhaps best known as the event where Jimi Hendrix opened for the Monkees. Hoping to appeal to a more sophisticated musical palette, the Monkees asked Hendrix to be the opening act for their 1967 summer tour of the U.S. After joining the Monkees in Florida on July 8, Hendrix lasted only seven shows before abandoning the tour. Hendrix purportedly grew tired of the 'We want the Monkees' chant that greeted him every time he took the stage, and at the Forest Hills show on the 16th he flipped the bird at the less-than-enthusiastic crowd and stormed offstage, never to return.
