Bo Durtha was a female sharpshooter in the Wild West show circuit, active in the late 19th century (circa 1870s-1890s). She was known for performing "over-the-shoulder" shots with a single-shot tip-up rifle. That means she could aim behind her shoulder (or perhaps by turning part of her body) and fire backward or sideways-an impressive trick-shooting feat. She was in competition with Annie Oakley, a rival sharpshooter in Buffalo Bill's Wild West show. These scarce photos of Bo Durtha posing with rifle are in very good condition, pasted on backings measuring 4.2x6.5".
