Very rare blue and white transferware Infant Feedling Bottle.
This lovely china Baby Bottle is covered with a delicate blue and
white sheet pattern. Popular in the Georgian era this
boat shaped or turtle form was beautifully made to match the
adult dinnerware of the period. Before the rubber nipple was
invented, this type of bottle was filled at the hole at the top. the
infant would suck at the tiny lipped opening at the tapered neck.
The mother's thumb would control the rate of flow as it was
placed over the opening. This is a significant historical piece as
after the Industral Revolution brought glass bottles into use and
the china one went out of fashion. Very few survive.
