<td width="100%">
Early 19th C. Pennsylvania-Ohio area Two Drawer Blanket Chest. Circa 1830-1850. Solid pine 3/4-1 inch thick hand hewn boards with wood-peg construction on four sides. Fine dovetail joinery on all bracket feet and sides of trunk (13 full dovetails on each side of trunk with four dovetails carved on each bracket foot). Both drawers dovetailed on all sides as well; two older wrought iron hinges support top board that has replaced original hinges (darker oxidized shadows show where original hinges were set in top). Wooden pegs secure the 1" - 1 1/4" wide wood trim that frames the front and sides of top board. Wonderful older medium-dark walnut color finish throughout entire exterior; inside immigrant drawer measures 5" wide by 19" in length. Center middle lock is missing for top section of chest.
