African-American politician (1841–1898) who represented Mississippi as a Republican in the US Senate. Partly-printed DS, signed “B. K. Bruce,” three pages on two adjoining sheets, 8.5 x 14, August 20, 1890. Deed of trust registering the sale of real estate between Charles Halpine and Robert E. L. White and Louis D. Wine, signed on the docketing panel by Bruce as recorder of deeds. In very good condition, with uniform toning to signed page, a couple of small separations to folds, and expected document wear.
