Blake Bolt Action Repeating Rifle, #231, .30-40 Krag cal., 30'' barrel, blue finish, full-length walnut stock with factory checkered pistol grip retained by three barrel bands. Blake rifles possessed a unique rotary magazine and was reported on favorably in the U.S. Trials of 1893, losing out to the Krag. Other sources state that the Blake was unsuited for military service. It was re-tested in 1896. Little information is known about the Blake repeating rifle. Magazine opens from the right; left side features magazine cutoff device. Sights are graduated to 1800 yards. Mfg'd 1890s-1910. Condition is about fine retaining approx. 90% blue with most of the losses to top portion of receiver and near front sight. Stock, action and bore are excellent.
