Blade Runner (1982) - Hades Etched Brass Refinery Landscape Miniature
DEMO LOT
Hades Acid etched brass refinery landscape miniature used in Blade Runner (1982).
Created by the EEG model shop. The whole scene was created using a forced-perspective table-top miniature. The detail comes mainly from rows and rows of acid-etched brass silhouettes created from hand crafted designs. Those etchings were supplemented with model buildings and structures between the brass silhouette rows. Lighting was added through the use of fiber optics allowing for all the windows you see in the scene, as well as helping to define the pyramid in the background. The flames were created in a car park at night. This piece has been finished in a dark grey color and was undoubtedly used in the Hades Landscape visual effects shot. Other pieces that have surfaced over the years are plain brass and therefore should be classed as production made and unused for filming. This piece originates from the collection of Derek Van Lint, Cinematographer on 'Alien' (1979), and colleague of Blade Runner director Ridley Scott. Dimensions: 2.75" x 2.75"
