The lot features an excellent Blackfoot (Blackfeet) Native American Indian pipe tomahawk from the 19th century. The piece shows a wonderful forged iron pipe bowl tomahawk head with a unique heart cutout in the blade. The blade also shows an etched spotted design around the heart and linear etching along the bowl area. The pipe tomahawk also has a four-sided carved wood haft with rich patina and brass covered iron trade tacks accenting both sides. The piece also has a glass trade bead and brass thimble drop (has one large Hudson Bay red white heart beads). The piece displays very well and is in very well preserved museum quality condition. A number of this style of tomahawk were traded to the Northern Plains and Blackfeet Indians. Overall measures 19"L with a head that is 8 1/8"x4"x1.5" with a 11/16" pipe bowl.
