This is an original oil on canvas work of art. This is a folk art in style. This features 5 Blackfoot Indians preparing the body for burial. The female Indian on the left is offering a prayer well the kneeling Indian is cutting off one of her fingers on a log along with the man. The standing male Indian sings the dath song while the male Indian on the far right is bending over readying to cut his left leg to let blood. This is a fantastic work of a very private ceremony that only a few could witness. Most likely painted from the Blackfoot People. The painting is in need of a resoration, but does show the original work in its 1800's state (there is a nail hole on the left edge). This piece also features an old ponderosa log frame that is hand made from the same time era. The frame measures 18"x29.25" and the displayed original artwork is 14.5"x25.375" with the canvas being 16.5"x28"
