This is an original work of art mixed media sculpture handmade by renowned Western and Indian artist Dave Powell born in Kalispell, Montana. Dave Powell is son to one of the most well-known Cowboy artist, Ace Powell and his wife and also a well renowned artist Nancy McLaughlin Powell. Dave also worked with Bob Scriver on creating the Lewis and Clark Sculpture in Fort Benton, Montana. The sculpture shows the likeness of a 19th century Montana Blackfoot Chief. The Warrior is wearing: An early trade wool blanket with a hand painted blanket strip, Hand painted Indian hide war shirt, Early painted and quill pipe bag, Brass Trade Beads, Various beaded accents, and a hide headdress. This is a very well-crafted piece and is exceedingly rare. Mounted to a piece of Birch. The back is hand signed by Dave Powell with a Western Star and “CA” for being a Cowboy Artist of America. Measures 32” tall.
