This is a Blackfoot Native American Indian parfleche mineral painted knife sheath with pony beadwork. The lot comes with an exceedingly rare 19th Century Snake Brand Sheffield Bowie Trade Knife. The knife is marked, "Snake Brand Sheffield" with the underlined snake brand and shows a copper riveted wood handle. The sheath is all parfleche and parfleche sewn construction with mineral yellow ocher and red painted design. The sheath also has a tine jingle cone fringe with chalk white and sky blue glass early to mid 19th century pony trade beads that are sinew sewn. Rare set from the 19th century. The knife is 11 3/8"L with a 6.75"L blade that is 1 3/8"W. Sheath and knife are 23.5"L with fringe x 3 1/8"W.
