Blackfeet Beaded Sheath & 19th C. Trade Knife
The lot features a nice set showing a Blackfeet Beaded sheath and nice early trade knife. The sheath shows a Dag Fighting Knife pattern with Indian tanned hide construction and the front being covered in geometric beadwork. The beadwork is all glass trade seed beads in chalk white, greasy yellow, red and cobalt. At the base shows Indian tanned fringe with red stroud clothe and solid brass bells (three of which are marked "100 INDIA"). The top shows a tie strap and four fringe with millefiori glass beads and more brass bells. The knife is an older 19th Century trade knife showing a two piece walnut handle being secured with three pins with an acorn window pewter silver bolster. The blade shows a good length with recurved belly and half grind rear. The age of the sheath is not known. Sheath measures 19.5"L with fringe by 3.25"W. The knife is 14.75"L with a 9"L blade.
