Black powder Colt Single Action Army Revolver with Factory Letter
Manufactured in 1895. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address, "45 COLT" on the left side and the left side of the frame is marked with the two line, three patent dates followed by the circled Rampant Colt. The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame, trigger guard and backstrap, with the assembly number "467" marked on the loading gate. Casehardened frame and hammer, with blue on the remaining parts, standard blade front and frame notch rear sight, and fitted with two piece checkered hard rubber grips with the Rampant Colt in an oval at the top. The accompanying factory letter verifies the serial number, caliber, barrel length, blue finish, with grips as "Not Listed" and that it was shipped as 1 of 25 to Simmoms Hardware Company, St. Louis, Missouri on January 8, 1895.

Condition: Very good. The barrel retains 20% faded original blue finish with a dark brown rust patina on the balance. There is strong original blue finish on the top of the backstrap and protected areas of the trigger guard with a brown patina on the balance. The cylinder and loading gate have a dark brown patina. The frame has a dark gray mottled patina. There is overall minor oxidation on all the metal surfaces. The grips are very good with some minor dings and scratches. The backstrap toe screw and front trigger guard screw protrude and if the trigger guard screw is tightened it goes through the frame and against the cylinder (still protrudes). The markings are clear. The action is very good.
