Black Titheables and Slaves. Group of Civil War field documents for clothing, Pennsylvania Volunteers, 1861 through May 1865, partly printed on both sides of 10 x 15 sheet, comprising seven single sheets plus one double. Listing quantity and cost of socks, jackets, shoes, and other apparel disbursed to soldiers. With Quartermaster receipt, 1863, for 400 barrels potatoes bound for Brandy Station. Split at one fold. Receipt, 1863, for soldier's pay. A.L.S. of Gen. James Grant Wilson, aide to Gen. Banks during war, to Gen. Lloyd Bryce, 1891, regarding publication of a letter of Admiral Porter. Wilson edited and authored many volumes after the war. Tipped to larger sheet. Fine. With two separate tax bills, 1846 and 1857, Scott County, 3 x 6 -1/2 , including charges for "Black titheables" and "Slaves." Very good.
