The included Colt factory letter confirms the serial number, caliber, barrel length, blue finish, and hard rubber grips and that the revolver was shipped to Hartley & Graham, New York, New York, on February 28, 1884 as a shipment of 50 guns. The revolver has the two line Hartford barrel address, three line patent date marking on the left side of frame, and "45 CAL" on the left side of the trigger guard. Matching numbers on frame and grip straps with the assembly number "6301" on the loading gate. The rear cylinder face is stamped with the number "1" and the letter "L". Fitted with checkered grips featuring rampant colt imprints at the top which are numbered to the gun (538).
