Black Powder Colt Frontier Six Shooter Single Action Army Revolver with Factory Letter
Colt's factory record state this revolver was part of an order of ten sent to the San Francisco Agency on November 10, 1891. The letter itself is made out to Hank Williams, Jr. of Paris, Tennessee. Blade front and notch rear sights, with "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER" roll stamped on the left side and the one line Hartford address on top. Casehardened black powder frame, with the two line, three date patent markings next to the circled Rampant Colt, "444" assembly number on gate, checkered and bordered hammer spur and checkered two piece hard rubber grips with Rampant Colt logos at the top and American Eagles at the bottom. Inside grip is period inscribed "John Salem E Van".

Fine, with approximately 40-50% of the original blue finish, strongest on top of the barrel and in the protected areas, with a smooth gray patina showing overall with brown in the transition areas between blue and gray. Strong traces of the original pattern are present on the frame, with color in the lower areas of the front strap. Grips are very good, with some mild chipping and pressure dents. Mechanically fine.
