c. 1875. Nice view. Stereograph measures 7x4", high contrast, and the focus is sharp. The storefront signs read clearly. Photographer, Joseph M. Collier, arrived in Central City, in 1871, operating a studio there until 1878. Later he moved to Denver. He continued to operate a studio until 1901 [ref: Mautz]. The right side of the stereograph places this photo as part of Collier's Rocky Mountain Scenery. This is a very clear shot with great detail. The reverse of the stereograph says, "This is the earliest and still the largest ore reducing centre in Colorado. A large portion of the mills in the" county "are . . . located upon the waters of North Clear Creek.
