These are 19th century taken Red Deer Horns on an intricately carved Black Forest Red Deer Bust. The Castle of Eckartsau was Archduke Franz Ferdinand’s (heir to the throne of the Austro-Hungarian Empire) estate from which these antlers were taken. Archduke Franz Ferdinand, the owner of the Eckartsau Palace, had it turned into a hunt castle. Today Eckartsau is now a museum, were many of his trophies are displayed. The Eckartsau Hunt Castle would host Ferdinand’s family and various dignitaries included hunts with King Wilhelm II, the last King of Prussia and the last Emperor or Kaiser of Germany. A group of the trophies were acquired by a collector and imported into the US. The royal trophies in the collection were from both the Archduke Franz Ferdinand, Eckartsau Estate and Kaiser Wilhelm II, Eulenburg Esate. The piece was professionally refurbished and the horns made removable. The mount shows an original 19th century Black Forest carved Red Deer bust. Overall with antlers measures 16" (off the wall) and 37"t. Antlers are 29.5"w and 21.5"t. Carving is 19"t x 14" (off the wall) x 10.5"w.

This is a legal agreement between you, the user or buyer, and North American Auction Company. You must be at least 18 years old to bid. North American Auction Company. All sales are made on an AS IS - WHERE IS WITH ALL FAULTS basis. All buyers are urged to physically inspect the item during the inspection period. No bids can be withdrawn after the auction for any reason. In the event of legal proceedings arising from this contract or from the auction in connection therewith, buyer consents to being subject to the personal jurisdiction of the courts of the State of Montana. Buyer also agrees that venue shall be in Gallatin County, Montana and that the laws of the State of Montana shall govern this Agreement and the parties' transaction hereunder. The BUYER expressly agrees to indemnify and save the Auction Co., Seller and their assigns harmless from and against all claims, losses, expenses, damage or liability, (including, but not limited to, attorney's fees), directly or indirectly caused by or resulting from Buyer's negligent acts or omissions or breach of this agreement, except for damages caused by or resulting from the Auction Co.'s sole negligence. If there is a dispute on the authenticity of an item, the only professional opinion that will be considered is from a curator of a well-known museum.
