This unmounted 10" by 7 3/4" matte finished photo by an unknown photographer shows Alfred Girard, a famous local sheepherder, arriving from Benton, a sheep camp. Apparently, every summer, Girard would bring his wagon to town in order to store it there for the summer. The condition of the photo is fair. It has wrinkles, tears, and nicks around the edges. There is some foxing in the photo; however, it's focus is clear. Viewers can readily see wagon tracks in the dirt in the foreground. In the background to the left, there are two women wearing white dresses. The mercantile store directly behind Girard's wagon - which is carrying a full load - advertises Levi Strauss's "copper riveted" overalls. Strauss invented his denim jeans and overalls during the Gold Rush to give miners durable clothing.
