American World War I ace (1879–1936). His zealous ambition, overreaching bravado, and vocal criticism of the War and Navy departments following the war led to a court-martial, a guilty verdict, and prior to a suspension, his resignation from the military in 1926. Vintage matte-finish 11 x 13.75 photo of Mitchell in full dress uniform and a chest full of medals, signed and inscribed in fountain pen “To General Johnson Hagood, with whom it is always a pleasure to serve and to be associated, Wm. Mitchell.” In very good condition, with noticeable creases to borders, with a few extending into image, and some scattered light border soiling. Johnson Hagood (1873–1948) was commissioned in the artillery, and served in France in World War I, where he created the Services of Supply. His decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal and Commander of the Légion d'honneur. Excellent military association.
