Bill Ward and His Dominoes Promo 78 and Handwrit
Bill Ward and His Dominoes Promo 78 and Handwritten Letter (King 1364, 1954). The legendary R&B group had first recorded in 1950, and by the mid '50s had begun stringing together hits on the Pop charts. The talent was always there -- lead vocalists included first Clyde McPhatter, then Jackie Wilson. But their crossover success was also helped by an appearance on the Ed Sullivan show in 1954. Included with this lot is a handwritten letter from Ward, dated June 7, 1954, to Sullivan thanking him for having the group on his show. Ward included a promo copy of his latest single, "Three Coins In The Fountain," suggesting it would help the band win their "first gold record in the pop field." Ward signed the four paragraph letter "Gratefully, Billy Ward." (See a close-up at our website!). The rare white label promo ("Dee Jay Special") copy on King 1364 has "Lonesome Road" as its B-side, and is in very nice condition at EX 7. Accompanied by a COA from PSA/DNA.

Shipping: Recordings (view shipping information)
