Exceptional Hot Springs High School 1964 ‘Old Gold Book’ hardcover yearbook from Clinton’s senior year, 8.75 x 11.25, 268 pages, originally belonging to his friend Jim McDougal, signed and inscribed on the first free end page in blue ballpoint, “Jim, You have really inspired me. I guess I'll never be as smart as you, but I sure have enjoyed trying (and failing) to knock you off in math. I want to say something that your behavior has shown you already know—there are many brilliant people in this world, but few smart enough to use their brains to make a good life—you've already done that—God Bless You (& Help MIT), Bill Clinton.” The yearbook bears McDougal’s ownership signature on the same page, and is signed throughout by other students. The page Clinton signed is in fine condition; the overall yearbook is in very good condition, with foxing to several interior pages, foxing and soiling to front and back covers, and small splits at spine ends. Accompanied by the 1962 and 1963 yearbooks from Hot Springs High School and some related news clippings and ephemera. The 1964 yearbook features nearly 20 different images of Clinton, including his senior portrait, as first chair saxophone in the All-State band, and the famous picture of him shaking hands with John F. Kennedy.
