This is an excellent pre-historic Big Sandy point with a high grade and book value of $1,500. The point is expertly constructed from a nice scarce Alibates Flint material and is in excellent well-preserved museum quality condition. The point shows a Big Sandy shape with rare triple notch and nice long size. The spear point has a collection museum tag that reads, “177-SA10 4 1/8” Big Sandy Side Notched flint point Decantur, Tennessee Book Value $1,500.00” and “4 1/8 BIG SANDY SIDE NOTCH VALUE 1,500 Decantur, TN”. This is truly a rare authentic Big Sandy / Large Side Notch Cluster point with nice rare triple notching and outstanding Alibates colorful Flint. This 10,000-8,000 B.P. Range artifact is from the Tennessee Paleo Native American Indians and is an exceptionally fine Big Sandy point showing wonderful detail and fine condition. The colors range from deep red, browns, purples, pinks, and yellows with a nice speckled or spotted matrix. Provenance: From a multi-generation artifact collection spanning 80-100 years from Las Cruzes, New Mexico. The point is in excellent condition and measures 4 1/8”L x 1”W. Riker case is 5.5” by 6.5” and 1” thick.
