American blues shouter from Kansas City (1911–1985) who is best remembered for the song 'Shake, Rattle and Roll.' Standing 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing over 300 pounds, Turner, whose career spanned six decades, was known as 'The Boss of the Blues.' Progressive Music Co. sheet music booklet for the song 'Shake Rattle and Roll," two pages, 9 x 12, signed and inscribed on the front cover in blue ballpoint, "Big Joe Turner, KC, To Allen." In fine condition. Accompanied by a handwritten letter from Joe Turner's wife Pat, penned on "Big Joe Turner, The Boss of the Blues" letterhead, dated December 12, 1972, in which she explains that her husband's arthritis prevents him from accepting any long term agreements, but writes that "he would be glad to accept any jobs that would not call for any lengthy traveling (providing the dates are open here & the money is right)."
