This book carries with it one of our favorite bits of comic lore, namely that this series featuring the Blue Beetle, Samson, and the Flame was cunningly named after the "Big Three" of Roosevelt, Churchill, and Stalin. According to <B>Crawford's Encyclopedia of Comic Books</B></I>, certain powers that be in Congress thought that giving a comic book this name showed a lack of respect toward the President, and thus got the War Production Control Board, which had the power to stop the manufacture of nonessential items, to cut off this title's production after the seventh issue. Truth or humbug? Beats us, but what a conversation piece if you win it! Overstreet 2006 VF 8.0 value = $1,481.
